Open Sea Submersible Cage Mooring System

The client engages in open sea ocean aquaculture and intends to push the boundaries of mariculture by going further offshore and into deeper water than were previously thought possible. This system is designed to pivot with the prevailing current to provide an apparent unidirectional flow of water past through the net pen. It is approximately 100m of water depth to conduct 4 mooring systems to secure the individual dia.50m x 10m depth fish cage.

The proposed mooring design is a single point mooring consisting of 3 catenary anchor legs to a central riser. Each leg consists of a drag embedment anchor, anchor chain, lower mooring line, upper mooring line and all related connecting hardware. The lower mooring line is comprised of floating High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE), while the upper mooring line is comprised of sinking Liquid Crystal Polymer, with protective thimbles at either end of each section. The mooring design calls for an ultimate horizontal holding capacity of 200T in all directions.
